what skating means to me!

Figure skating was and still is my passion. My first steps on the ice were when I was just 4 years old. And I immediately fell in love with the cold air, the special sound the blades make while you glide across the ice. Since I was a little girl, I felt there is some magic in this sport. And here I am, 46 years old, still competing in this, for me the most beautiful sport. Skating allows me to develop as an athlete and as an artist simultaneously, as it makes me feel athletic and graceful. It teaches me how to be patient and not give up and be better today than yesterday, no matter how old I am. And it is not easy. It is never easy to create something worthwhile.

When I step on the ice and glide across the ice, I feel free; I feel the breeze of the cold wind on my face, and I feel like I'm flying. I can forget about who I am. It is just me in the present moment. It is my kind of meditation, a moment where I connect with my soul the most.

As a little girl, I was a part of it. Today skating is a part of me. It is much more than a sport. It's a way of life, a dream and a passion and a feeling no one can describe with words.

I am forever a skater.

Today, I am part of the Skate Canada organization
